Introduction
Weiss Solutions LLC ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Rubrix Chrome extension and website.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What We Collect
- Account information: Your email address when you sign up or sign in.
- Usage data: How you interact with the extension (features used, actions taken). Your email address is anonymized before being sent to our analytics service.
- Canvas course data: When you use Rubrix on Canvas, we sync your enrolled course names and IDs to our backend to associate grading settings with each class.
- Canvas account email: When you visit a Canvas page, Rubrix reads your Canvas account email to pre-fill the sign-in form and link your grading history to your Canvas account.
- Assignment & submission content: When you run a grade, the assignment description, rubric, and your submission content are included in the grading prompt sent to AI. This prompt is stored alongside your grade report — see "Content You Submit" below for full details.
How We Use Your Data
We use your account information and usage data to provide and improve Rubrix, manage your account and subscription, and analyze product usage to fix bugs. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Content You Submit & What We Store
When you run a grade, Rubrix constructs a grading prompt that includes: your assignment description, rubric criteria, any teacher notes, and the text content of your submitted files. This prompt is sent to an AI provider for analysis.
The following are stored in our backend after a grade is completed:
- Grade report: The AI-generated score, rubric breakdown, and written feedback — so you can review it later.
- Grading prompt: The full prompt sent to the AI, including your assignment description, rubric, and submission content. This is retained to power the follow-up chat feature, which uses it as context to answer questions about your grade.
- Usage metadata: Which AI models were used, token counts, and cost — used to enforce plan limits and track usage.
Your submitted files (PDFs, images, documents) are converted to text or sent as native media to the AI provider and are not stored on our servers. Only the text-converted content included in the grading prompt is retained.
Submitted content is never used to train AI models. AI providers process it solely to return a grading response, consistent with their API terms of service.
Data Security
All data transmitted between Rubrix, our backend, and third-party services is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Authentication tokens stored locally on your device are managed by Chrome's secure storage APIs.
Third-Party Services

OpenAI / Anthropic
Your assignment files and rubric details are sent to AI providers (OpenAI or Anthropic) for analysis. This data is processed per their respective privacy policies and is not used to train their models. You may choose which provider to use in the extension settings.
