Acceptance of Terms
By installing or using the Rubrix Chrome extension, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use Rubrix.
Description of Service
Rubrix is a Chrome extension that helps students self-assess their assignments before submission using artificial intelligence. Rubrix analyzes your work against the assignment rubric and provides feedback. AI-generated feedback may not reflect how your instructor will actually evaluate your work.
Rubrix is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Instructure or Canvas LMS.
Subscription & Billing
- Rubrix offers a free tier with limited monthly grades. Paid plans unlock additional usage.
- Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or multi-month). You may cancel at any time.
- All payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms.
- Paid plans include a monthly AI usage cap. Usage beyond the cap may result in temporary throttling until the next month.
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us to request one.
Academic Integrity — Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of Rubrix complies with your institution's academic integrity policy, honor code, and any course-specific guidelines set by your instructor. Rubrix makes no representation that its use is permitted by your institution or instructor. Before using Rubrix in connection with any graded academic work, you must verify that doing so is allowed.
Rubrix is designed as a self-assessment and learning tool. Use of Rubrix to gain an unauthorized academic advantage is a misuse of this service.
Rubrix is not liable for any academic, disciplinary, or legal consequences arising from your use of this service, including grade penalties, academic integrity violations, suspension, or expulsion.
User Representations
By using Rubrix, you represent and warrant that:

- Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or redistribute Rubrix.
AI Processing & Third-Party Providers
Rubrix transmits submitted content to third-party AI providers (currently Anthropic and OpenAI) via API to generate feedback. These providers process your content solely to return a response and do not use API inputs to train their AI models, consistent with their API terms of service.
You are responsible for evaluating whether this processing is consistent with your institution's data governance and privacy policies before using Rubrix.
Intellectual Property
Rubrix and its underlying technology are owned by us. You retain ownership of any assignment content you submit. Feedback reports generated by Rubrix are provided for your personal use and are not claimed by us.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Rubrix and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of Rubrix in violation of these Terms or applicable law; (b) content you submitted that you did not have the right to submit; or (c) any claims by your institution, instructors, or third parties relating to your use of Rubrix.
Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your subscription will not renew.
Limitation of Liability
Rubrix is provided "as is." We make no guarantees about the accuracy of AI-generated feedback, and it may not reflect your instructor's actual grading. We are not liable for any feedback errors, data loss, or damages arising from your use of Rubrix.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Idaho in the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of Rubrix after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
